The purpose of this post is to provide advice to those who are searching for local and long distance moving companies in Boca Raton, or the greater South Florida area. We are providing this guide as a service to those who need help locating professional moving companies. The first thing we recommend when choosing a moving company is to ask what form their moving quotes take. All their moving quotes should optimally be binding and flat fee. This means that the price of your move will never exceed the price of your moving quote. This type of moving quote is key to ensuring the moving process goes as smoothly as possible. Not all Boca Raton, Florida moving companies offer binding moving quotes so be wary!

To help you understand the various types of moving contracts please review the three types of tyipical moving contracts.
Binding Not-To-Exceed Estimate
A true Binding Not-To-Exceed estimate is the best for the type of contract. This contract means that even if your actual weight is thousands of pounds more than the original written estimate, you still pay for only the amount of the estimate. But if your actual weight is less than the estimate, then you pay less than the amount of the estimate, according to your actual weight times the agreed upon price per pound. The benefit of a binding-not-to-exceed estimate can only get lower, not higher.
A Binding Estimate
A Binding estimate is basically a fixed price contract. This means that you agree to pay the fixed amount of the binding written estimate. The actual weight is irrelevant. This is the most “fair” type of estimate If everyone is honest. The risk to the consumer is that the estimator could highball the estimate to get extra money for pounds that don’t exist. The risk to the moving company is that the consumer could sneak in lots of extra items that were not included on the original estimate. The risk to the mover is much less than the risk to the consumer, because the truck driver has the right to “challenge” the binding estimate on loading day, before actually loading, if he thinks that the estimate is too low.
A Non-Binding estimate
In a Non-Binding estimate you are charged for the actual weight that is determined by a set price per pound. The final bill could be higher or lower than the original written estimate, depending on the actual weight. If the bill is higher than the estimate, the mover can collect up to ten percent extra on top of the amount specified in the non-binding estimate on the date of delivery. Then he is required by law to make full delivery of your goods.
We at Sunset Moving & Storage want to earn your business by handling your move (international, interstate, intrastate or local) through the utilization of our top rated pack and haul fleet and local crews to provide superlative services to you on the consistent basis you need and deserve.
Who’s moving your furniture?
Friday, July 16th, 2010A central part of a smooth moving experience will be to establish the following four criterion when selecting a moving company. First, be certain to ask whether all of the men have been back ground checked. This will ensure you do not have any criminals or felons in your home handling your goods. Also, ask your salesmen whether the men handling your furniture have been drug tested. Asking these two questions minimizes the likelihood of thieves or unscrupulous persons being on your moving crew. You should also ask whether or not the men will be uniformed. Companies with reliable track records are often proud to have their logo prominently displayed. If the men do not wear uniforms you should wonder if the company has something to hide, or whether the employee is someone who only works part time for several moving companies. Uniforms convey professionalism and questions should arise if they are not used. Finally, ask whether or not the movers and packers have undergone any independent certification courses. For instance, all of Sunset Moving & Storage’s men have taken Atlas certification courses. This ensures all of our men live up to the high standards set by Atlas.
To paraphrase, key to ensuring a smooth move is having professional and courteous persons handle your furniture. In order to guarantee this, there are four criterion you should use when considering which company to use. The first two requirements are that the men be background checked and drug tested. This will ensure only professionals, and not career criminals, will be handling your most cherished possessions. Also, uniforms and independent certification programs should be insisted upon. This will guarantee the men have been with the company for a while, because they are wearing uniforms. And, the certification process will guarantee the men handling your goods have received proper training.
