The Better Business Bureau (BBB):

The Better Business Bureau is perhaps one of the best known consumer review agencies around. The service seeks to provide customer reviews of local companies. You can check to see whether a company chooses to work with the agency. And, if so, whether any consumers have lodged complaints against the company. The agency also provides a mediation process for disputes.

The American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA):

The American Moving & Storage Association is a non-profit trade group. There are approximately 3,000 companies which are currently members. Membership consists of van lines, their agents, independent movers and industry suppliers.

AMSA is most notable because of its ProMover certification program. This quality certification program is aimed at helping consumer choose amongst moving companies. First, the program is open to only those van lines which have interstate operation authority, meaning they can ship your goods to any of the 50 states.  ProMovers must pass a background check, be licensed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and agree to certain ethical standards.  AMSA also examines company ownership and registration with state corporation commissions, and the mover must maintain  a satisfactory rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Moving Scam:

This is an independent website which is committed to helping citizens choose the best moving company for their needs. On the forum you will find everything from moving company reviews to a list of companies you should watch out for. There are always individuals on hand to answer basic moving and storage questions too.

Angie’s List:

Angie’s List aggregates consumer reviews of local companies. Angie’s List is a paid service and charges consumers to see and post reviews. They believe this helps add to the credibility of the  information. While you are there feel free to view our page. We are proud to have numerous awards from them.
